Primary School

This project characterizes Levis Plona Primary School. The school implements CLIL experimentation with integrated teaching of language and content. English is not only a subject of study in itself, but a vehicle for addressing other disciplines as well.

This “natural” linguistic approach has significant advantages:

• improves language skills
• stimulates logical-mathematical strategies and enhances overall cognitive ability
• develops a positive attitude toward other foreign languages and cultures
• forms a more flexible and open personality toward the surrounding world;

This method creates a synergistic relationship between LEARNING TO USE A LANGUAGE and USING A LANGUAGE TO LEARN

The type of CLIL adopted is one with prevalence of the foreign language, according to two methods:

1. The native-speaking teacher, in co-presence with the subject teacher, guides exercises on content already acquired in Italian.
2. The native-speaking teacher, without co-presence, proposes a discipline in English by choosing those in which the language can:
   • convey the content of the discipline
   • be closer to everyday life
   • be used in multiple contexts
   • allow immediate feedback, facilitating student self-assessment

Students in the final years of primary school are offered the Cambridge examination which includes tests at STARTERS, MOVERS, FLYERS levels. The three exams are aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) of the Council of Europe at Pre A1, A1 and A2 levels respectively.
