The CLIL Bilingual School
The Educational Dimension of Bilingualism
In line with European language development guidelines, our school has been offering English language instruction with native-speaking teachers since early childhood education for many years, giving the school a strong orientation toward bilingualism and internationalization.
Bilingual education is part of the children’s daily experience and offers a natural and spontaneous approach enriched by an educational program that uses participatory methodologies within activity contexts, facilitating engagement and learning.
The early childhood and primary school teachers, who have developed considerable educational, cultural, and pedagogical expertise over time, collaborate on shared projects, promoting continuity between the two school levels.
Early Childhood Education
Each section has two teachers working together:
- An Italian language teacher
- A native English-speaking teacher, present from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM and from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM
Primary School
Each class teaching team includes a native English-speaking teacher, with a weekly “full immersion” schedule structured as follows:
- 4 hours of English language instruction
- 3 hours of CLIL (curricular subject content in English), including one hour of Art and two hours co-taught with the subject teacher
This approach facilitates the integration of English-speaking children, for whom specialized workshops in Italian language (L2) and English language (L1) are offered
